i've deleted the app and cleared library application support.. it seemed to have fixed the backup.. but the website still shows empty folders... and i've logged out.. refreshed pages.. still empty

That is normal with anything that taxes the bandwidth either upload or download. Adjust your backup to use 30-50% of the bandwidth instead of 100%.

Exact same problem here. The only way I have gotten around it for a short time was disable the service idrive on the synology and run it again and that gets it working for a short bit.

You can set Auto-Pause option in the settings tab of the application during backup operations to enable optimum desktop experience.
