I just signed up for iDrive, and for one of my computers, it works like a dream. For my other computer however, I'm having a lot of issues. Whenever I go to launch iDrive on this computer, I receive the following error:

"id_win.exe - Configuration parser error

Error parsing
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\config\machine.config
Parser returned error 0xC00CE556."

iDrive then either fails to open, or opens and freezes before I can login. I reinstalled both iDrive and Microsoft.NET framework several times to no effect. I have also attempted repair of Microsoft.NET framework to no effect.

I did go in and manually delete the machine.config referenced in the error. After I did this, iDrive would start, but if I tried to login to the account, it returned a "Cannot connect. Try again." After restoring the file, the original error persists.

This issue is not manifesting otherwise in operations, so it leads me to believe that it is an iDrive issue, not necessarily a problem with the .NET Framework. Any suggestions? Has anyone else had this issue?

You can easily change ownership of a file or a directory like this (if you are the administrator):

1) Right-click on the file and select "Properties"
2) Select the security tab
3) Click on "Advanced...". (In the dialog that comes up, you will see the owner listed at the top.)
4) Click "Change" and make yourself the owner.

I just started idrive on Dec. 30 and have been told repeatedly that they have to review the logs for every issue. They refuse to admit that they have glitches, and are not responsive. The forum is a misnomer; it does not allow members to share ideas, but it could, if we force it by posting replies and putting our questions in the reply. So let's try this: has anyone else gotten some of their data synced, only to have it stop? Mine says "retrying" constantly after syncing 70 of 90 GB. I have disabled and re-enabled; per the chat suggestions, I turned off my firewall (this made no sense or it would have stopped the backup and sync from the beginning); I have run as administrator (again, this makes no sense, or it would have been a problem from the beginning; I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, and ensured that it's the latest version. So what, if anyone knows, does "retrying" mean, and how can I get it unstuck? (They told me it's stuck on some file, but won't say what type of file would cause this or how to determine what the offending file is. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.)

I can say that the Idrive bandwidth test is a farce. It always reports the same regardless what the reality is. It is window dressing. The biggest reason that the backup takes so long is that it keeps stopping and getting stuck; this is a glitch idrive refuses to acknowledge, probably because they're not sure themselves what cause it, and because admitting it would be bad advertising.

I believe that there are Idrive server issues that they refuse to acknowledge.

Why would you send replies to forum questions to the individual instead of posting it on the forum, which is the reason for the forum, to share information? I agree that Idrive support is generally lacking in knowledge and unresponsive.

IDrive just hangs and displays Preparing File List but doesn't do ANYTHING.

This has been a REPEATED problem with IDrive and I'm getting tired of it.

This is NOT a problem with my firewall!
I can completely disable it and still I have this issue.
The ONLY thing that seems to work is to reinstall the software.
Then it only works until I reboot the system.

It appears that this bug is being caused by the repeated re-installation of Microsoft Update KB3035583. This is the annoying update that tries to get everyone to update to Windows 10. The Update will ignore the setting that tells Windows Update to keep it hidden.
The only way to stop this is to change the Windows Update settings to 'Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them'.
