Chris L on "What data/files stored locally in the appdata folder can be deleted?"

In the C:\Users\%user%\AppData\Local\IDrive is a LOT of data. 86GB !

The IBCOMMON folder contains almost all of this data.

I want to clean this up. What is safe to delete? Please don't tell me I can't delete this. I'm on a smallish SSD and need to get rid of it or in the very least move it to another drive (HDD). Please help!

Also is it safe to delete the individual log files in IDLOGTEMP? There are over 245,000 files !!!

@acaetano You may exclude such files from your backup-set or add them under the exclusion list. For files that requires backup, please provide necessary user access permission to the "system" account so that all of the files that is selected for backup are successfully backed up to your account.

Recently updated iDrive on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) with Sierra 10.12.5 (16F73) to Version 3.5.0.7.

Have experienced a system crash daily for the last several days without an error message or noticeable warning signs (like lag or overactive fan). System will freeze for a few seconds and then turn off. Always possible it's related to another configuration/app/something, but the timing makes me concerned, and this last time I definitely noticed an iDrive window pop up right before the crash.

I went to the FAQ and found the following instructions:

"If you wish to disable auto-renewal, log in to your account via our website, click your username in the upper right corner of the screen, select ‘Account’, and click the ‘Disable auto-renewal’ button."

However, I can't seem to find the "Disable auto-renewal" button? And, after looking at screenshots included on the same FAQ page I've noticed that the button is there, but not present in the same place on my own account page?

Here's a screenshot:

Please let me know how to disable auto-renewal, thank you!

I have just signed up as well and completed a full back up. The total size of files for online backup is 294.20GB, but the Idrive monitor is saying I have only used 157.17GB of 1000GB. Can somebody give me an explanation as to why this is? Is this due to file compression or some other reason?

Are all my files backup or not? That is my question

When doing online backup, Idrive is stuck in an infinite loop preparing the file list. It has worked in the past, but now does not progress past this initial stage.

I need to backup my data as soon as possible. This is very inconvenient.

I tried it again and it works now, however I would like to know why it sometimes does not work. This information would be helpful to myself as well as others. Thank you!

The option "Disable auto-renewal" will be available after 15 days of account creation. This option will be available in the same sub-section.

Click your username in the upper right corner of the screen, select ‘Account’, and click the ‘Disable auto-renewal’ button."

Any resolution to this problem? I have noticed that if I restart the VM Server on which the scheduled backup failed, then change the time to start to one minute or so in the very near future, then close the program, the backup completes in the background, generally, at the newly scheduled time, without issue. I have also noticed that one must stay/be logged into the profile where the backup job is scheduled for it to work at all.

I complained about the slow speeds several times and received a very unhelpful response saying iDrive didn't throttle speeds.
Well, did several tests on five different connections in New Zealand and two in the U.S. on the same day - all reported the upload speed is 3.43 Mbps. How is that even possible with so many variables at play?
Just did another test on two different connections and BOTH report 1.14 Mbps.

My concern isn't even the slow speeds - after the initial backup is done, subsequent backups don't take too long. The support emails are a blatant lie. I would have respected you a lot more if you replied "we do have QoS policies in place to ensure all customers can upload files and not cause a bottleneck" - which appears to be the case, - rather than stating there is no throttling.

Hi,

same here, I'm a new Customer and trying to upload/backup ~120 GB.
I'm using cable as my internet connection (Ping 20ms; Download: ~62 Mbps; Upload: ~6 Mbps). I'm on a Win 7 (64bit) and have uploaded just 1,42 GB within almost 21h. I have no limitations enabled, nothing.

Q: What can I do to increase the upload speed?

It's an issue with many people...

Home computer:
Did a test now and it says 0.11Mb/s. It will take 20 hour(s) 29 minutes(s) to Upload 1GB of data. Seriously? 167ms ping to a server in LA, 36Mbps download and 17Mbps upload.

Work computer, different connection:
Still 3.43 Mbps, the same figure I've seen several times.

All happening on my subaccounts, the main account name is my username.

I turned off all applications that access network and tried to do an upload bandwidth test while watching Task Manager WiFi activity. The overall WiFi throughput on the Performance tab never went beyond 48 kbps. The iDrive process itself never showed any network activity, only disk activity at 0.1 MB/s.

The upload test returned the same disappointing 0.11 mbps but my conclusion is that the figure is actually misleading. How can it measure the bandwidth if none is used during the test? Can you elaborate?

I'm going to ask a friend of mine who is a network engineer to do more tests with WireShark and share his findings.
