An interesting observation, FlyingCelt regarding the Windows software and ports.

I would add though that you probably should not expect speeds to be anywhere near those found from the raw data speed tests. The software has other work to do which I would imagine maybe like this:

1) Index the file on the local computer;
2) Encrypt the file with your private key;
3) Compress the file;
4) Upload;
5) Decompress on the IDrive server;
6) Re-index the files on the Idrive server

Maybe some decryption too.

However, I would expect much the same process to take place whether you upload manually or use the software.

All, I can tell you honestly is that I have found that my backup speed is incredibley fast but it depends on the local computer.

All my computers share the same internet connection. My Linux server backs up at an incredible 15-30GB per hour depending on the type of data. My Windows 7 computer is a fraction of that.

The only think that is really slow is file syncing but that is dependent on the Win-dooze... computer.

So, I do not think this is a problem with IDrive.

Also worth considering the comment by BlackKnight regarding IDWutil_600.exe which may have something to do with it.

Any news about drive client support for the Synology DS216Play? To me it seems strange that every other DS216 is supported but not the DS216Play.

Hi,
today the backup always fails with this error, I tried to upgrade to the latest version but nothing changed. My internet connection is fine.

We require more information about your account to analyse this issue. We request you to send us the complete log files of IDrive application by using the "Send Error Report" feature. You can find the Send Error Report feature under the "Help" menu after you login to IDrive application. Alternatively, you can right click on the IDrive tray icon and select "Send Error Report".

How long does it take iDrive to restore the iDrive Express backup? Mine was received on August 12th by iDrive according to the confirmation e-mail, but today, August 22nd, my backup still has not been restored to my account.

I sent an e-mail on August 17th asking about the status, and received an automated response, but nothing else. I called and waited on tech support line until I was kicked out of the queue and forced to leave a message.

This is my new iDrive account. I've been a customer for years on the old version, but never had to contact tech support. Not impressed so far.

Been running this version for weeks with no problem. Had a daily schedule setup. It's been running fine. This morning I tried to open the settings screen to add a folder to the backup. As soon as I logged in got spinner.

Stopped and restarted the IDrive app. Still spinning indicator.

Removed the app and reinstalled it. Still only get the spinning indicator.

I am not able to access any of the settings now.

What is the secret to get this working again?

I have just upgraded to DSM 6.0.2-8451 on a DS413j and I am running iDrive 2.03.21

Now I have no Diskstation file structure showing in iDrive - just a file structure "n" which is empty, so I can't create a backup set.

I have Webstation 1.0.56-0056 running.

Am I missing something please?

Hello,

We currently have 7 remote Linux Redhat 6 machines running iDrive via the Linux scripts supplied by iDrive (idevsutil etc). They are all set to back-up at the same time each day at 2:30am (GMT).

We are finding that we are intermittently failing to receive the expected email notifications from iDrive that the back-ups have completed from the machines. For example, this morning 3 out 7 emails were received, yesterday 1 out of 7 and Sunday 4 out of 7. There does not appear to be set day or machine this occurs from.

From checking the local iDrive logs on each of the machines they report that the back-ups were successful with 0 files failed. Upon checking the physical iDrive back-up, indeed they have backed-up ok, so it is odd why certain email notifications are not being generated.

From a machine in which the back-up email notification did not come through from today, the local tracelog.txt file reports an error of “ {"error":1,"message":"No user found"} “ regardless of the back-up having actually completed. This is also the same from the other machines in which the email notifications are not generated from.

Help greatly appreciated.

I would like to add that each of the machine’s use the same username and password (no sub accounts) to back-up folders that are named unique to each machine. Not sure if this has any bearing?

Could you please check in spam folder and verify if the mails are filtered as spam.

Same question, but for DSM 6.0.2-8451, which is out now. Will the iDrive app work if I enable it after upgrade of DSM?

We have the same problem. Support promised an update within next 2 hours, and are still waiting after 4 hours.

I've got the same issue. Ticket opened with support on Saturday (ID00905999) and still waiting to here back from them. Unable to get into the interface and the backup jobs aren't running either.

Currently it doesn't work. The package will run, you can get to the login screen but after I get asked for my encryption password it sits there with a spinner on the screen and you're unable to get into the settings. This is with the current package and DSM 6.0.2.
