I just created an account with iDrive to test my ability to backup my Synology NAS. It's the free 5GB account.

I'm running:

Model Number: Synology DS1813+
DSM version: DSM 6.0.1-7393 Update 2

I installed iDrive version: 2.03.21
I allowed the http group to have read/write access to "web" in permissions

---

It seemed to install properly and it allowed me to login to my idrive account (after modifying the http group permissions). However, it lists my storage as 0 GB of 0 GB. Refreshing that does not get that to change. When I run a backup, it just fails after going through lots of files.

Anything I can check or do?

There is no Username icon to click on in the upper right corner ofter logging in. My name is there but there is nothing to click on and no way to select Account as your FAQ suggests.

I can cancel account but that immediately cancels my account and deletes my files. I should be allowed to use my account until the end of my paid term. I simply don't want to pay iDrive another thin dime.

Hi everyone,
well this is not really a problem, but I'm just curious to know if anyone else is experiencing this and know why:
If you check in Task Manager in windows you will notice some processes called idwutil_600.exe. Time ago I used to see only 2 of them running and in fact my transfer speed was very slow. I can see 4 of them now and speed has doubled. Anybody knows why I sometimes see 2 and other times I see 4? Does it mean when I only see 2 there's a problem?
Thanks guys

For further analysis, we require details on how the application is configured on your computer. Let us know if the application is running under different user profile. Please forward your observations with the application logs using "send error report" feature in the application. The application is used only under the Administrator profile. Sometimes it uses only 2 of those process files, and as a result the speed is half to when the app uses 4. When only 2 are used I just stop the backup and restart it and if I'm lucky it will use 4 again. I guess it's a bug in the software. Regards

JMon on "Synology - iDrive combination killing internet access during backup"

Whenever iDrive is doing a backup, access to the internet goes bad.
Bad= can't even hit a simple site like google, or bandwidth is VERY bad to the point it is unusable. Pings time out etc..

I would think my Nighthawk router would throttle in a way that other devices get fair time. But something seems very odd here. When I run an iDrive backup from a PC, everything still seems good enough for other devices when accessing the internet.

It is just the combination of the iDrive + Synology that seems to introduce the problem.
Also when this happens, I can't access the iDrive UI page running on the NAS.
I've rebooted every combination of devices and still goes back to when iDrive starts a backup, internet access begins to go bad.

I've also tried adjusting the iDrive throttle and that doesn't seem to help either.

Where do I even begin trouble shooting this problem?

My iDrive is about to auto renew, so I was asked to reset my password when I went in to update my password. iDrive didn't backup today because my password didn't match. Do I need to change it somewhere else?

It sounds like a permissions problem to me. Can you upload files individually from the web use interface or does that not work either?

No, it is still the same. I cannot log in with my 'real' account. I had to make another account just to use the forum.

You will need to change the password in the backup application as well.
