IDrive on "Synology x16 models"

We have added support to 11 new models of x16 series. List of supported models are as follows:

@TheFlyingCelt I see. No, I am not going to waste my time with a live chat. If the problem is so common, it appears on different platforms and it is out there for one year at least, iDrive should already know the cause. Moreover, I am not a newbie in computers and it is unlikely that I am missing something obvious.

I am now testing another backup service. Thanks for your useful testimonial.

I'm working on my computer and an alert pops up. "1112 Files in your Sync folder have been deleted." I opened Windows Explorer and went to the iDrive Sync folder and my files are all gone except for ones that have a timestamp of today. Everything I had in that folder, over 1000 files are gone. If I had deleted the files, they would be in my recycle bin, but they are not there. These files were deleted on the iDrive Server and then removed from my local computer.

I pulled the 5 remaining files off the sync drive and they are now safely stored someplace other than iDrive Sync.

This is a pretty huge problem. Someone needs to get my files restored.

Unfortunately I totally agree.
Support has been very kind trying to help but it is definitely a problem at IDrive.
I was asked to perform some task and try again and vupti, it uploaded approx. 60GB very fast but then went extremely slow again.
My personal opinion is, that they opened bandwidth for me for a period of time.
So I will ask for my money back and find another provider.

If the files were deleted from the sync folder from any of the computers that are in Sync, then on all the other computers, synced data will be moved to trash. Please login to your account at http://www.idrive.com and navigate to Sync space. Inside Sync folder, please navigate to trash and verify if you can find the deleted data in trash. You may put back the data from trash and the data will be available in sync folder on all the other machines that are connected to same account.

I reported them to the BBB and they offered to close my account and refund me. Well, that's not what I wanted really as I liked the features of IDrive, but by throttling the bandwidth won't get them too far. Many users are leaving. I'm sure they do throttle as I ran many tests, on different computers, netowrks and in different countries. Least but not last I have noticed that no matter if I restore 3 or 100 files, the total amount of bandwidth used by IDrive software is always 1MB/sec maximum, which is pathetic considering that my connection is an optic fiber at 65mbit in down and 20 in up, and I have this issue only with IDrive. I'm leaving IDrive guys, and I hope many will follow as you don't deserve to be into the business.

@Ker, no matter how many files you try to restore, the download limit is always 1MB/sec, so yeah, they do throttle and it's a shame. I reported them through the BBB and asked for a refund. There are many better services out there than a throttling expensive poor customer care company.

Hi,
I have resorted to this forum in the hope I can find an answer to my question - something the iDrive team don't seem to want to answer?
I have searched here and can't seem to find a previous conversation on this subject...

I have asked iDrive support this question many times now.
Following submissions of error reports and even online chat they simply go 'around the houses' and avoid a simple answer...
So here's my 2 part question;

I am using iDrive to back up my MacBook Pro and a couple of external hard drives...

1/ The information in the backup set shown in iDrive's desktop app shows the size of each folder selected for backup.
The sizes of these folders don't match that of the info obtained from "Get Info" on my Mac of the same folders.

2/ The folder sizes shown in the backup set of iDrive's desktop app and/or restore tab don't match what is shown online when viewing my backed up files/folders.
All the folders/files online are smaller than those shown on the iDrive desktop app/restore tab. In all cases smaller by several GB!

Why is this?

My concern is that iDrive is not backing up all the files on my local drives.
Why else would all the online backed up folders/files be of smaller size than those on my local drives?

I have checked the 'Excluded Files' list and there is nothing in there that would avoid the right files being backed up.

iDrive request Error Reports and keep telling me all my files are backed up ok.

So, if ALL my files are backed up ok why doesn't the info within the desktop app and under the restore tab match up with the size info online via the web browser???

Can someone please give me a plausible explanation so that I can gain confidence that iDrive is backing up everything as it should?

I'm battling the same issue for several idrive versions now. Seems they never got it right and the latest version 6.5.1.11 appears to be the worst. In previous version sometimes it worked but with this version is consistently does not work - meaning after idrive wakes up my pc (windows 10) performs backup...it never releases the request and pc stays always on.

Will send error report to support to see what happens.

I have the same issue! My speed tests indicate 37ms, down 15.01mbps,up 1.95mbps without software running. As soon as I start backing up then it slows to ping 564ms, 1.76mbps, .50mbps upload with the software running. This restricts our IP Phones significantly and all internet activity!

Additionally, tech support 2 via chat requests I give them 24-48 hours to discuss with the backend/development team. I'm not sure why they cannot answer or solve the problem.

RoBo, it sound like you are saying the backup is too fast so it is stealing your bandwidth?

If you are using windows, there is a bandwidth throttle in the idrive desktop utility to slow it down so that your telephones still work.

Alternatively, perhaps you can backup at night so that the office is not affected.

I find the backup speeds very fast from Linux but less so from Windows on my network where all computers share the same internet connection. I do not think there is a problem with Idrive speeds at all at their end.

I have been unable to log into this forum under my usual user name since June 2016. I raised a support ticket but have heard nothing.

I have found that I can log in (yes here I am) by creating a new account! This is my third account and I now have three user names!

I suspect that it could possibly be due to the fact that my account uses a private encryption key and not the default. I get error

500 -the server at forum.idrive.com is not working

I have tried 4 computers and 3 different browsers and this is the only way I can log in here

@Vlado we require more information about the operating system that you are currently using. Please forward us the logs using "send error report" option. We will escalate this issue to our development team and will contact you with an update as soon as we hear from the team.

I'd like to do a cleanup of my backups. (iDrive says my backup size is 808.26, but Get Info says I'm using 431GB.) I can increase the Consider % to greater than 25%, but I can't decrease it to less than 25%. I click "Cleanup Now" anyway. After almost an hour, I get a message that says: "'Cleanup Now' operation has been aborted because we prevent the cleanup process when the number of files considered for cleanup is more than a certain percentage of the total number of files in your backup set." It says I have 587,066 files listed for deletion.

Is there a workaround to lower the Consider Percentage or to get that list of files?

I'm working with idrive support and I'm really frustrated with the ignorance level there. Support person told me to enable "Automatic power off after the completion of the scheduled jobs" in the settings which I asked if he is really sure about since it says "power off". Unbelievable, either those guys do not understand English or they are incompetent, either way, they should not work in support.
