REOPENED for Synology DSM 6.x
Synology 5.X allowed unkonwn package sources, but from DSM version 6.X you need to specify the name and location.
As the .spk file does not contain signature, can I include iDrive as a known source?
Thanks,

Installed newest client on Win 8.1 and computer BSOD'd 17 times over 2 days while I had idrive installed with a whole ton of different errors on screen for that. Even when idrive was just sitting idle. Uninstalled it and it's been totally fine since. Should I try to get a refund and find a different provider or is this common and easily resolved?
Since updating to DSM 6.0.1-7393 and reinstalling iDrive 2.03.20 I am only able to backup shared folders. Previously I was on DSM 5 with the same version of iDrive installed and I was able to backup any folder under /volume1. Specifically the @appstore folder. iDrive support is telling me you can only backup shared folders but when I check my backups in the cloud I have a /volume1/@appstore backed up out there. This was one of the main reasons I picked iDrive over other backup solutions and now it's not working.
Anyone else seeing this?
Getting a message that iDrive isnt compatible with the latest update and will be disabled. When will you be releasing a new package that will be compatible?
We are now displaying only shared folder for backup and this has been requested by Synology team. We are planning to provide a new feature which will allow user to change the app behavior and allow backup of any folder that users selects. This will be available soon
IDrive for Synology app is compatible with the latest DSM version. Please ensure that you have the latest version of the IDrive package installed. Please disable the the app and upgrade your DSM version. Please enable the app and login to your account. The app should work as expected.

I'm still waiting
I experienced the same "Host name not resolved” error when attempting to run iDrive (v 2.03.20) on Synology NAS DS216J (operating version DSM 6.0.1-7393)
Marco9's following suggestion corrected the problem:
1) mcrypt must be active in PHP Settings of Web Station
2) Also in PHP Settings: activate "PHP open_basedir customize...." and add "/etc:" in beginning of the field
3) Permission rights on the Web Shared folder --> "http:" needs read and write rights (read only is not enough). I changed this in /Control Panel/Group/http menu
Seems to work well now!!
DSM version 6.0 will also allow IDrive package if "Any publisher option" enabled.
1. add http user to web folder with r/w permissions
2. then install winscp -> go to folder /var/services/web/idriveit/.cache (its a hidden folder)
3. delete all files inside
4. login to idrive webpage on nas, fill out user and pass and voila it works
I sent an email to support right after seeing the response here 4 days ago and have not had any response at all. Did the support email not work or something?

I suspect you have a space or error in your list of files called dir.list. It should be simple plain text with nothing but the file list
Bump - any hope of getting DS216j support anytime soon?
I signed up yesterday and I drive has yet to compleat an initial backup. It stalls half way through the backup process at 57% never restarts and offers no error message. It claims "Backup is in progress" but doesn't budge. Is this "normal"?
You may download a compatible command line utility from the following link and check if works for the requested Synology Model 216+: http://evs.idrive.com/download.htm#command-line-utility
Post your observations, so that we can forward the same to our development team.
We do not restrict the upload bandwidth at our end and our application is designed to match your internet capabilities. The backup speed is dependent on internet speed.
You can use IDrive express for faster initial seeding. To know more about IDrive Express, please refer the following link: https://www.idrive.com/idrive-express
I wanted to upgrade from a pre 2011 account to the latest iDrive software, so I followed the instructions from the website:
"IDrive accounts created prior to 11/23/2011 used earlier technology, which makes it difficult for automatic migration of data from old to new. All earlier accounts continue to be supported.
However, if you wish to upgrade your account to the newer version of IDrive, then you will need to cancel the old account, signup for a new account and backup your data again. In that case, we will issue pro-rated refunds for the old accounts after you send us an email to support@idrive.com mentioning both your old and new usernames."
I received a response saying that a refund is not possible. However, I found a previous post on this forum where someone was in a similar situation. This was the response:
"If you've recently renewed your subscription, we have absolutely no problems with refunding the remaining balance if you'd like to create a new account. While our refund policy does state that we do not refund on general cancelations, in this case, even though you're canceling an older account, you're also signing up for a new one. If you do decide to create a new account and cancel out the old one, email support@idrive.com with both usernames and we'll process a prorated refund."
This is very disappointing. I'd like to continue using iDrive but I can't afford to pay for he new account and the old one that I don't use. I don't want to have to find a different backup solution and I'm sure iDrive would like to retain a customer rather than lose the payment for both accounts instead of just one?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Many thanks.
