Ok. Disappointing, but thanks for the info.

I've noticed this issue on my free 5GB account... quota usage 7.5 GB, backup set on my hard drive is 3.5 GB. And the calc of my backup set on my hard drive is consistent with what Win Explorer calculates. So why is quota overstated?
I cant imagine handing over any $ for a paid subscription until this is explained.
Tony P on "Synology DS2xx and app performance"
Is anyone using the IDrive app (version 2.03.36 currently) on a Synology DS2xx series device (DS213 up-to-date in my case with a fairly vanilla SMB share and volume structure).
I'm experiencing performance delays from adding folder structures to a backup set to actually backing up the content to IDrive once its discovered?

Hello all,
I installed the iDrive update the other day and now it won't launch the application. Nothing else has changed on the system all is running well except for this. Support has done the usual uninstall/reinstall/reboot and then told me I would hear back from someone else but I haven't heard anything yet.
Can any one else help me here?
pattmatt on "Extremely Slow Backup"
I just purchased an account for iDrive and was having a very slow initial backup too. I saw Gene's comment about anti-virus software and when I looked on my machine (via Task Manager -- I'm on windows) I saw that there was an anti-malware scanner competing for disk I/O with the iDrive-related processes. I went into my anti-virus (Windows Defender) and turned off real-time scans and the backup speed seemed to pick up much faster. I also don't see the I/O contention that I seemed to have earlier. It's not blazing fast, but it's much better than before. So if you have anti-virus software running, check to see if it might be competing for resources on your machine and consider turning it off for the initial backup. Thanks for the tip, Gene!

I don't know what exactly happened or changed, but since a couple of days I get almost constantly full upload speed (~950kB/s) on my NAS. I hope it will stay like this.
GrahamN on "100 kB/s upload speed"
As I posted on another "slow upload speed" thread things have improved in the last 10 days or so. Over the weekend I was able to backup 360GB in 24 hours which is what like it was until about the 2nd week of December. Then there was about 4 weeks when it wouldn't run above 1MBps.
I really want to hear from Idrive what has been going on. I cannot continue with the service if data transfer could be capped or otherwise curtailed like this again especially if there is no acknowledgement or explanation. I cannot believe there was not a cap because when it was slow it was a rock solid 1MBps without any variation. We are using the Business Package 1.25TB and it is due for renewal in a few weeks.

IDrive on "Huge usage discrepancy - Mac"
@PT_495 The size of used space in your account may not be equal to the current backupset size of the data you are backing up from the machine. This is because, we support true archiving of data in IDrive. This ensures that, any data backed up to your account so far, is not removed from the account automatically, if the same data (files/folders) were to be removed from the local computer. So, the backupset size here can vary according to what is present on the computer currently, but whatever data has been backed up previous to the account is not removed automatically and it will add to your used storage space.

This update is the first time that I had to run the install As Administrator on my Windows 10 PC. The automated update would not run.

Thank you for this explanation, it makes sense. Also through support I learned that I can check what is backed up on the restore page. Through that I learned that there is more backed up than in my backup set. This is because when I first installed the app, it started backing up before I had a chance to select folders. I had to delete (from cloud) the folders I didn't actually intend to back up, that iDrive got a jump start on. Now backup set more closely matches quota. Thanks for the explanation.

Same problem here. For the first 2 days or so I was getting around 1.2MB/s, now I am uploading at around 100KB/s.
I contacted by email and in chat, they asked for a bug report which I sent, and then asked me to restart and run as admin, with no change of course. They said the technical team will get back to me but so far no change.
This is utterly ridiculous. I will definitely look for alternative solutions if I am not given a decent reply as to whats happening and the problem fixed soon.
It has taken days to upload a couple dozen GBs!!

Rav3n on "100 kB/s upload speed"
Yep... had several contacts with the ussport per E-Mail....
There are two things:
- They don't understand how the client works
- Explained to them, that the issue is reproducible on different computer but in same network
- Run as Admin does not bring anything
Right now uploading with 1.55 Mb/S.... yesterday about 1,99kb/s - 570 kb/s...
Rav3n on "100 kB/s upload speed"
Also, uploading files per Web is working with normal speed, means I'm getitng full 25mb/s.
Further, its not clear why there are only one IDEVSUTIL.EXE running and sometimes more.
