OK, so here's my story to add to the apparently long list of woes on this forum.

I used to use iDrive free version and it was just dandy. Then I started exceeding my limit. I didn't do anything about it for a while and recently decided to start paying and so increase my limit. That's when the fun started.

First thing was that iDrive wouldn't back up the file set I had working fine before. I was told I would have to delete it all and start again. Yes, that's right, get rid of all my carefully stored backup files! But I did it and set a new enlarged file list for backup. My backup set was now 18Mb, not huge but much bigger than the 5Mb limit I had previously.

Everything seemed to be going fine but it quickly became clear that it was going to take several days of continuous backup to upload 18Mb. Eventually, the system reported that it had reached about 60%. At that point I closed my computer down for the day expecting it to pick up again the next day when I booted up again. Nope. The system reported that it had backed up a less than impressive 1% of my backup set after a week of whirring away. Basically, it looked as if it had "lost" most of the backing up it had been doing for a week.

The most recent email from iDrive admitted that therer had been a problem their end and I "just" needed to reinitiate the process. Well, I started that about half an hour ago and the system is still "Preparing file list". I am not confident it is working even now. Reading this forum, it seems loads of people have similar problems. So here is the puzzle: how do iDrive manage to persuade online reviewers to say iDrive is so good if it actually is full of bugs?

On the positive side, I do at least get responses from iDrive, although they tend to be short and uninformative. And it does look as if they patrol this forum, so they do respond to complaints to some extent. So in case you are reading this Mr iDrive, my latest ticket number is ID01007660.
