I just purchased an account for iDrive and was having a very slow initial backup too. I saw Gene's comment about anti-virus software and when I looked on my machine (via Task Manager -- I'm on windows) I saw that there was an anti-malware scanner competing for disk I/O with the iDrive-related processes. I went into my anti-virus (Windows Defender) and turned off real-time scans and the backup speed seemed to pick up much faster. I also don't see the I/O contention that I seemed to have earlier. It's not blazing fast, but it's much better than before. So if you have anti-virus software running, check to see if it might be competing for resources on your machine and consider turning it off for the initial backup. Thanks for the tip, Gene!
