Alright guys - after this happened the other day and after I finally got all my data downloaded from iDrive, I signed up for the Google 1 TB plan at $10 a month (or $100 a year). It's a little more, but sure is worth it.
I uploaded ALL my data (the same data I had on iDrive) in less than 24 hours. Then, just for fun, I downloaded it - just to see how long it would take.
When I did this on iDrive, I had to do it in several segments - which I did over about four days. The last segment took just a little over 24 hours to download from iDrive.
So, I downloaded this same last segment from Google - and you know how long it took? It took 1 hour and 44 minutes!!!!!!
Google allowed me to use my full speed of about 125 Mbps.
Now, I will cancel my iDrive account. I don't care about their most recent promise (posted just before this comment) that they're working on improving "performance".
I see from this thread that they've been making such promises for TWO YEARS now! So, good-bye iDrive.
UPDATE: I just realized that since Google doesn't count photos as storage - that I'm actually under 100 Gbs with them! So I went back to their 100 Gb plan which is only $1.66 a month on the $20 annual plan!!
