i tried Idrive because I saw a "review" where the score was good and above acronis. But this tester must have been backing up a 100mb file. The upload speeds make the product un-uasable. - Ei can not be used for the purpose it is being sold.

I found this post from a year ago, and it never got answered. I'd also like to know the answer.

The basic question is, When using our own private encryption key, are filenames still visible at the idrive server side?

The previous post with T&C's above seems to suggest that filenames are not encrypted at the point of storage and therefore allows for potential unauthorised access to see what files are being stored (even if they can't be opened).

Thought I would chime in on this, I have access to multiple ISP backhauls and can confirm i am having the exact same issue, I am yet to see the data transfer get over 3Mbps on my Mac running High Sierra

Must admit if the speeds stay this way I will be asking for a full refund or following up with my bank to get a charge back on the card

Seeing the exact same thing here on my end, various bandwidth monitoring systems in place to ensure AMPLE upload capacity, but finding the software appears to be maxing around the 3Mbps mark, clearly being throttled if EVERYONE is seeing the same thing!

I am curious to.
So do we get a straight answer for this basic question?
Till then, we should presume that filenames are not encrypted....

What is the problem with Kaspersky?

My backup was being held on two files sitting on a mapped drive, sized in the 4GB range each. As part of the regular backup the backup progress appeared to stall on these files for weeks. I selected each file individually for backup (do NOT do an archive cleanup if you try this or you may lose your backup set) and over about 6 hours they finally completed. Still not clear why they took so much longer than other files the same size, but it appears I am past this hump and my backup has completed.

I have forwarded the query to our development team again and we are waiting for a reply. I'll update this thread as soon as I receive an update from the team.

When I select my Google Drive folder for backup, the iDrive desktop client app shows 0GB of content. I have about 15 GB in it. What could be the problem? Is there a permissions issue?

OS: Windows 10
iDrive client version: 6.7.0.21

The answer to your questions is simple and I know what I'm talking about: idwutil_600.exe process is capped at 3 mbit and IDrive uses only 1 of these processes at a time for most of your transfers.
Insist with customer support to remove the cap.

The answer to all your questions is simple and trust me, I know what I'm talking about: idwutil_600.exe process is capped at 3 mbit and IDrive uses only 1 of these processes at a time for most of your transfers.
Insist with customer support to remove the cap.

I can see that sometimes it loads 2 or 4 versions of idwutil_600 (is the number based on whether the backup is incremental? Not clear why). But then only 1 out of the 2, or 2 out of the 4 is actually active transferring. For me they seem to be limited to about 1 Mbps, and normally use less than that. So do we need both these caps removed?

I guess whoever did the reviews/recommendations of iDrive that we all read had modified versions that did not have this cap? If that was the case then under EU consumer rights legislation we might have a for this to be corrected at iDrive's cost.

Are there any other options in the market? I dont know how this company survives in 2017, but certainly it is useless for backups

I certainly8 wished that i had seen this forum before i ordered.

JohnP. Regarding Backblaze-B2 with Duplicity test it first with a lot of files. B2 charges for each file interaction, which means when your back up software (I use GoodSync) compares files to see which should be backed up it quickly reaches the free cap and you start getting charged for this too - I dont remember the exact figures, but for my 200k files I know I cam out much more expensive, especially if I want to do more than one backup a day .
